Coloring Tips
Ready to add some color? Think about the vibrant world Pterosaurs lived in! For the Pterosaurs themselves, you could use earthy browns, grays, or even adventurous blues and greens – remember, scientists aren't entirely sure what colors they were, so your imagination is the limit! Their wings might have interesting patterns. For the river, use various shades of blue and green to show movement and depth, or maybe a sunny yellow for reflections. The jungle plants can be a riot of greens, from light lime to deep forest green, with touches of brown for tree trunks and maybe some bright flowers if you like to add details. Don't forget to color the sky above! A bright blue for a sunny day, or warm oranges and purples for a prehistoric sunset.
Fun Facts
Did you know Pterosaurs weren't actually dinosaurs? They were flying reptiles, cousins to dinosaurs, but a different group entirely! They had hollow bones, like birds, which helped them stay light enough to fly. Their wings were made of skin and muscle, stretched between their long finger and their ankles. Pterosaurs came in all shapes and sizes, from those as small as a sparrow to giants with wingspans wider than a small airplane! They were excellent hunters, with some eating fish they snatched from rivers (just like in our coloring page!) and others feasting on insects or small animals. They lived all over the world, in habitats that would have looked very much like the lush jungle and river scene you're coloring today. Imagine seeing one of these magnificent creatures soaring overhead – how exciting!
